This is a collaborative project from 2011 which was designed to study Regions of the US. There were 40+ classrooms participating virtually. The goal was to use technology to add dimension to a flat project and learn about regions from a real-world perspective.

This is the 2nd time I've launched the project collaboratively. The first time was back in 2005 when a coworker and I connected 10 classrooms primarily through an email project . We used a website for sharing photos and information.

I believe this project this time was a success and also a huge learning experience for me and those involved. I look forward to running another collaborative learning project! I will continue to use Wikispaces as the learning platform.

Enjoy the project and pardon the dust.

Would your class like to Skype with another class?

The school year is quickly coming to an end. It might be nice to participate in a quick and easy final activy using Sype to hold a video conference. Each class could be randomly paired with another class. The classes would arrange a time to Skype together, exchanging clues to guess the location of the other class. If you are not familiar with Skype, watch the video.
