January - Getting to Know You
The whole group activity this month will focus on Internet Safety and learning to use the wiki. The big goal is to get everyone up and running. Please follow these steps to get started.
Step 1: Teachers - Join this wiki! - Quick Teacher Task
You will find a link at the top of the page. Use the menubar on the left to view a map of participating classrooms and to explore.
Step 2: Check out the Regions page - Quick Teacher Task
Please take a moment to click on the
link in the menubar on the left to make sure your state is listed under the appropriate region. (Different textbooks and sources of information yield different results, but teachers living in the region can be the final judge. If you would like to make a change, please email me at
Step 3: Teachers - Publish a link to this wiki so it is accessible - Teacher Task
The wiki must be easily accessible for students from any Internet-connected computer.
Your blog, website, or school website will work. If you don't yet have a web presence, ask your school web producer for help.
Step 4: Avatars and Internet Safety Lesson - Whole Group Lesson
Step 5: Complete forms - Individual Student Task - Could be easy homework
Students: User account information Every student contributing to this wiki should complete this quick and easy Google Form in order to have a user account created. Once created, user account information will be sent to participating teachers.

Step 6: Sign in to your account - You can't do this until you receive your student account information.
Your teacher will provide you with login information. Please memorize it or at least keep it in a safe place.
Step 7: Upload your avatar to the wiki.
Step 8: Contribute to a Discussion - Independent Activity
Do you have an idea for a discussion? Would you like to contribute to a discussion that's already been started? Remember, the wiki is open 24/7. Feel free to contribute from home.
